Lü Shaohua, was born in 1945 in Xiaguan, Nanjing, Jiangsu. He is a first-class national artist and has been awarded a special subsidy by the State Council. In his youth, he studied under the master Fu Baoshi. In 1965, he was admitted to the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. In 1977, he enrolled in the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was also honored as an honorary citizen of the city of Paris. Currently, he serves as a director of the State Council Information Office, a trustee of the China Human Rights Foundation, an executive director of the State Council's Office for Poverty Alleviation, and an examiner for the Ministry of Culture's Social Art Title Appraisal Committee.
In 1965, he enrolled at the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts and in 1979, he taught and studied oil painting in Paris. During his time abroad, he held solo exhibitions of oil paintings in 36 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, France, the United States, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. After returning to China in 1989, he continued his research on traditional Chinese painting and oil painting. Between 1995 and 1996, he won two pure gold medals at the World Chinese Art Exhibition, jointly organized by the International Artists Association and the Chinese Artists Association. In 2001, he was recognized by the State Council as one of the leading figures in national entrepreneurship, and was honored with a group photo with Party and State leaders. In 2002, he represented China and the Ministry of Culture in the Great International Art Exhibition of 56 countries in Korea, where he won the pure gold "International Culture Award" medal. That same year, he was named one of Shaanxi Province's "Top Ten Outstanding News Figures" by the provincial government of Shaanxi. In November 2005, he was recognized as a distinguished artist of Shaanxi, and his personal archive was included in the provincial archives of Shaanxi.
In 2006, he represented China at the unveiling ceremony commemorating the third anniversary of the establishment of cultural relations between China and South Africa in Cape Town, where he served as the deputy head of the Chinese delegation. In the nearly 20 years since his return to China, he has held 16 solo exhibitions in cities such as Xi'an, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Qingdao, Ganzhou, Jinan, Chengdu, Weifang, Urumqi, Taiyuan, Hanzhong, Xianyang, Nanjing, Yuzhou, and Lanzhou. He has been interviewed and reported by several television channels, including CCTV, as well as television stations in Shanghai, Chengdu, Qingdao, Shaanxi, Henan, Taiyuan, Urumqi, and Jiangxi. Some notable features include the two-part series "Students of the West" produced by Shaanxi Television, a ten-episode special by Xi'an Television, and a two-episode documentary titled "Lü Shaohua Climbing Mount Huangshan Seven Times" by Shaanxi Television. His works and career have been reported by newspapers and magazines such as People's Daily, Worker's Daily, China Youth Daily, Fine Arts Daily, Ethnic Pictorial, and Guangming Daily. In 2009, Xinhua Net produced a video about Lü Shaohua’s passion for landscape painting, and in July of the same year, Chinese Television in Macau released two documentaries on his landscape and figure painting collections. He has published nine teaching articles domestically and three internationally, including "On the Worldview of Chinese Painting." His works, such as "China's Greatest" and "New Melody of the Frontier," have been collected by the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. His biography has been included in important international and national documents. In September 2009, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successfully held a large-scale landscape painting exhibition at the CBD International Art Center in Zhengzhou, Henan, sponsored by the Henan Provincial Propaganda Department, the Henan Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Henan Provincial Artists Association, and the Henan Academy of Chinese Painting.
In 2022, he was awarded the title of "Master of the Century of the Republic" by the Ministry of Propaganda and the Ministry of Culture of China and was honored as a "National Honorary Artist." That same year, he received the "Model of the Times" award from the Ministry of Propaganda of the CPC Central Committee. In 2023, the Committee for the Evaluation of Fine Arts Titles of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism awarded him the "Special Contribution Award for Chinese Culture," and in July, he received the Chief Art Advisor Medal of the Great Hall of the People. He was also included in three volumes compiled by the Central Academy of Fine Arts and named Honorary Lifetime President of the United Nations Development Committee. He was also honored with the title of "Master of Contemporary Chinese Arts" by the Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

· 1952: At the age of 7, he entered the ancestral temple of the Tang Bohu family in Wuxian, in the suburbs of Suzhou, to study painting under Tang Yunmo, a descendant of the Wumen School of Painting.
