I am a former member of the Arbitration Committee of Russian Wikipedia and the Fund Dissemination Committee. I was elected as a Wikimedia Foundation Trustee in August 2021. After reelection in 2024, I serve on the Community Affairs Committee (CAC), Products and Technology Committee (PTC), Governance Committee (GC) and a liaison to the LangCom and Election Committee.
I'm also a lead on the CAC-associated Sister Projects Taskforce, which developed a new Wikimedia Projects Lifecycle procedure.
Before applying to become a new WikiMedia Project, be ready to show that:
- Your project aligns with the Wikimedia Foundation's Mission "to empower and engage people worldwide to collect and develop educational content under a free license or in the public domain, and to disseminate it effectively and globally".
- Your concept works — that you have a viable community and sustainable activity.
It's advisable to start your project as part of other Wikimedia Projects where you might attract the existing community or use Wikispore — a MediaWiki space supported by WMF, a good place to start a new project from scratch. It has some tech that is unavailable in standard wikis.
I can be reached on the talk page (better) or via e-mail (worse, the mail goes to spam sometimes).
