English: Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, Sicily (Sept. 19, 2003) -- Cmdr. Daizo Kobayashi, assigned to Navy Evironmental and Preventive Medicine Unit Seven (NEPMU 7), uses a microscope to identify an insect in the entomology department. Certain species of insects carry different diseases, which NEPMU 7 works to assess and prevent. The mission of NEPMU7 is to protect and preserve force health readiness through provision of theater-wide preventive medicine support to Navy and Marine Corps forces, joint military operations and allied governments when directed.
