古鲸
除鬚鯨和齒鯨以外的鯨類
古鲸小目(学名:Archaeoceti)也作原鲸小目,即古代鲸鱼,包括现代鲸鱼的祖先。古鲸小目是鲸下目三个小目之一,传统上用以概括史前鲸豚类,但不包括其存活至现代的后代,因此,这是一个并系群分类,不是自然的演化支。古鲸拥有后肢,不像今日的鲸类。最早的古鲸可能完全在陆地上活动。其灭绝原因至今众说纷纭,其中一种解释是由于气候变化,海洋变得过份寒冷,造成古鲸类灭绝。
