音乐战壕

《音乐战壕》（英语：Trench）是美国双人音乐组合二十一名飞员乐团发行的录音室专辑，于2018年10月5日由拉面工坊发行。专辑是乐队在三年间的首张专辑，也是他们继2015年作品《模糊脸庞》后的第四张录音室专辑，在为期一年的隐退期当中录制完成。专辑是一张将场景设置于虚构的德玛城和周围的山谷，并探讨心理健康，自杀和自我怀疑的概念专辑，也是乐队在厂牌幻影杀手（英语：Elektra Records）发行的首张作品。

背景与制作

二十一名飞员乐团于2015年5月17日发行他们第四张录音室专辑《模糊脸庞》，并凭借作品收获他们首张美国《告示牌》二百强专辑榜的专辑。专辑亦衍生出两首打进《告示牌》百强单曲榜前5位的热门单曲。其中《Stressed Out》最高登上榜单第2位，而《Ride》则最高登上榜单第5位。乐团凭著这首歌曲与收录于《自杀突击队原声带》的单曲《Heathens》在2016年获得主流成功。他们亦于2015年至2017年间举行了专辑的巡回演唱会。在接受《Alternative Press》的访问时，乐团指他们会“走进黑暗”以专注于新音乐上，并补充他们将会更加专注在歌词的内容上，跟带回来像出道专辑（英语：Twenty One Pilots (album)）时“在歌曲创作上重视真实、歌词、传递与无畏”[1]。在乐团完成名为“哥伦布演唱会”的五天演唱会后，他们便在2017年7月6日开始展开长达一年的歇息，消失在公众面前以休息并制作为下一张专辑制作[2][3][1]。

《音乐战壕》的概念世界早在专辑的歌曲创作前便已经存在，跟乐团以往凭著创作不同歌曲以制作专辑的创作过程不一样[4]。专辑的具体开始制作时间不详，但主唱泰勒·约瑟夫早在2015年的“模糊脸庞巡回演唱会”期间便已经开始创作歌曲《Bandito》[5]。约瑟夫于他的个人自家录音室中制作出专辑的14首歌曲，而乔什·邓的鼓乐则在联合录音室（英语：United Recording Studios）录制[6]。无声数学乐团（英语：Mutemath）的主唱兼键盘手保罗·梅尼（英语：Paul Meany）跟约瑟夫共同创作与制作专辑多首歌曲，此前他跟二十一名飞员乐团亦在《TOPxMM》重混EP以及“情绪路演世界巡回演唱会”上合作过[7][8]。而亚当·霍金斯（英语：Adam Hawkins）则负责整张专辑的混音。专辑的制作限期为2018年8月15日，距离正式发行日期不足两个月，以交往生产与分销[9]。

歌曲的创作过程只有约瑟夫、邓跟梅尼三人参与，他们称是为了避免受到家族成员、朋友或同僚的在专辑内容上的任何影响。在接受《Kerrang!（英语：Kerrang!）》的访问时，约瑟夫解释他只向这些人展示专辑最终成品的原因，认为这样能“尽可能带来他们最接近真实的反应”[10]。他其后在接受《纽约时报》时提到专辑“差点毁掉”自己，认为自己的情绪状态在“自卑”与“自信”中“来回牵扯”，使他几乎想要中止所有工作[11]。

概念与音乐

《音乐战壕》延续了乐团从过往专辑便曾探索的不安、信仰、自杀和精神健康等主题[12]。专辑围绕着泰勒·约瑟夫创建的“音乐战壕”（Trench）虚拟世界而展开，并透过专辑宣传和音乐录影带等方式展示了这虚拟世界的样貌[7]。

专辑的大部分音乐以及宣传素材均围绕著“德玛”而展开。德玛字面意为“寂静塔”，是位于音乐战壕内的一个虚拟城市。寂静塔的概念取自琐罗亚斯德教的丧葬习俗，即将死尸放置在寂静塔，让秃鹫以尸体为食。乐团在Reddit上称受到“死亡宗教悲伤而神秘的意念... 死亡的原因是他们无法控制的：他们所需要支撑信仰的秃鹫并不足够。一些自然跟具逻辑的事情皆会阻挡你的对信仰的信心”的启发[13][14]。

前一张专辑《模糊脸庞》是代表不安的角色，当你愈了解不安便愈了解这个角色，亦愈能控制像心理上的战争等事情。这张专辑则是它的延续，我其中一样想做到的就是找出模糊脸庞的真名，而它的真名就是尼古拉·布尔巴基。

在音乐战壕的虚拟世界中，德玛是一个由九位主教统治的城市。九位主教的名称为尼古、安德烈、利斯登、基恩斯、雷斯德罗、萨卡瓦、尼尔斯、维托莫和利斯托[16]。主教的头目尼古全名为尼古拉·布尔巴基。这一名称取自20世纪一群法国数学家的笔名。据约瑟夫所言，尼古的真实身份是就是模糊脸庞，即在上一张专辑中代表不安感的形象[15]。而音乐战壕世界的一个反对派团体自称“匪帮”，其目标为解放德玛的人民。他们的主题色是一种色号为0xFCE300（英语：Shades of yellow）的黄色，因为主教会把这种颜色看成灰色，使用这一颜色可以帮他们逃脱主教的监视[17]。

发行

2018年9月14日，乐团在推特上宣布他们将发售黄胶唱片，仅在其官方网店售卖。他们还宣布将通过Indie Retail发布15,000张橄榄绿胶唱片，并在Urban Outfitters网站上发售8,000份橄榄绿和黄胶唱片[40]。乐团亦确认了当新专辑演唱会到欧洲巡回阶段时，两位成员将会现身英国多间唱片行宣传[41][42]。

2018年10月2日，专辑的几张实体唱片意外在澳大利亚的一家唱片店上架出售，随后该唱片在网上泄露[43]。邓跟约瑟夫于翌日在Instagram举行网路直播，以宣传专辑并承认作品的流出[44][45]。这张专辑于两天后的午夜发行，并同步公开了歌曲《My Blood》的音乐录影带[46][47]。这也是他们在厂牌幻影杀手发行的首张作品[48] 。

宣传活动

二十一名飞员乐团于2017年“Alternative Press音乐奖颁奖典礼（英语：Alternative Press Music Awards）”领取“最专注粉丝群奖”时首次提到由乐团创作的虚构城市“德玛”[49] 。乔什·邓单独上台接受了该奖项，并为泰勒·约瑟夫缺席而道歉。他在台上提到约瑟夫正在“切断与德玛的关系”，暗示他正在进行某项作品的创作[50]。2018年4月21日，粉丝在乐队的网店页面发现了隐藏在GIF中的网址“dmaorg.info”[51]。这个网站由一系列围绕著德玛的神秘片段所组成[52]。

网站亦包括乐团概念世界中的虚构角色克兰西所写的日记[53]。日记中描述了他一步步决定逃离德玛的经历，并随著时间定时更新。7月6日，网站更新了一篇日记，其中写道“到了早上，一切都会有所不同”[54]，乐团于同日向订阅者发送了一封电子邮件，其中包含一个略微张开眼睛的GIF动画[55]。乐团于2018年7月9日回归社交媒体，上传了一段包含黄色眼睛的视频[50]。印有乐团新标志的广告牌和壁画一夜之间在世界各地的许多城市出现[56]。乐团翌日发布了另一段包含眼睛的视频，眼睛比之前视频张得更开，并使用《Jumpsuit》的低沉版伴奏作为背景音乐[57][58]。《Jumpsuit》以及第二首单曲《Nico and the Niners》其后于7月11日发行。同日，乐团宣布了他们的专辑名为《Trench》（音乐战壕），并透露了其发行日期为10月5日[59]。该专辑的曲目列表在11月14日公布[60]。

在乐团结束为期一年的歇息后，乔什·邓在接受Beats 1广播电台（英语：Beats 1）的哈努曼·韦尔奇时谈及专辑的创作过程跟两首新单曲。2018年9月5日，Beats 1广播电台的赞恩·洛（英语：Zane Lowe）于他位于哥伦布的自家录音室中请来泰勒·约瑟夫作客，谈及乐团的歇息跟新专辑，并提到这张专辑如何反映他在不安、精神跟心灵健康上斗争[7]。

乐团亦在他们的推特帐户上传了2018年音乐电影“星梦情深”的恶搞海报，把电影主角布莱德利·库柏与Lady Gaga换成两名成员，以对抗同周发行的原声带《星梦情深》[61] 。2018年12月，乐队与音乐流媒体服务Spotify合作，制作了一个探索“音乐战壕”世界的临场式电子游戏。游戏中也揭示了专辑封面上的五个符号的含义[62][63]。

2019年6月21日，乐团发表了他们的“Løcatiøn Sessiøns”系列影片，皆为《音乐战壕》里的歌曲现场演唱版本。第一首公开的歌曲为《Chlorine》的原音乐版，名为《Chlorine (19.4326° N, 99.1332° W)》，当中歌名的座标为墨西哥城的一处地方[64]。《Cut My Lip》的重制现场版本于7月11日作为影片系列的第二首歌曲发布[65]。

在专辑发行之前，乐队登上《摇滚之音（英语：Rock Sound）》杂志9月刊[66]、《Alternative Press》杂志的9月刊[67]，以及《Kerrang!》杂志的十月刊的封面[68]。三本杂志都刊登了乐队的采访和独家照片。在专辑发行后，《纽约时报》撰稿人卡琳·甘兹采访了约瑟夫和邓，他们在采访中谈论了乐队的历史和专辑的创作[11]。

发行单曲

2018年7月11日，乐团发行了专辑的前两支单曲《Jumpsuit》与《Nico and the Niners》，并同时公开了《Jumpsuit》的音乐录影带[27]。2018年7月25日，乐团公开了《Nico and the Niners》的音乐录影带，作为音乐录影带三部作中的第二个作品，并围绕著泰勒·约瑟夫所虚构的城市德玛。两首歌曲的录影带皆与乐团的其他音乐录影带有关连，包括《Heavydirtysoul》与《Stressed Out》，均来自乐团前一张专辑[57][69][70][71][72]。

专辑的第三支单曲《Levitate》在正式发行前于8月经串流平台Tidal泄露，但其后迅速被移除[43] 。歌曲于翌日在赞恩·洛的Beats 1广播电台节目确认作为单曲发行，专辑的歌曲列表亦随之公布[73]。歌曲的音乐录影带于同日公开，作为录影带三部作的最终作[74]。在2018年8月20日的“2018年MTV音乐录影带大奖”上，《My Blood（英语：My Blood (Twenty One Pilots song)）》的10秒片段在专辑的电视广告结尾中首次公开[75]。2018年8月27日，一名推特用户在发现歌曲能在Apple HomePod播放后，把《My Blood》的完整片段以低音质形式在个人帐户上泄露。歌曲于同日稍后作为专辑第四支单曲发行，同时确认了歌曲的泄露版本为最终成品[76][77]。歌曲的音乐录影带于专辑发行当日在YouTube上公开[78][79]。

2019年1月22日，歌曲《Chlorine》作为专辑的第五支单曲发行，并同步公开了音乐录影带[80][81]。《The Hype（英语：The Hype (Twenty One Pilots song)）》于2019年7月16日作为专辑的第六支单曲派往美国另类电台，其后公开了歌曲的音乐录影带[82]。

巡回演唱会

在发行专辑的主打单曲《Jumpsuit》当日，乐队同时公布了于2018年10月16日开始展开名为“匪帮巡回演唱会”的世界巡回演唱会[83]。乐队其后公布Awolnation与马克斯·佛洛斯特（英语：Max Frost）成为演唱会首个北美巡回阶段的开场表演嘉宾[84]。

2018年8月19日，二十一名飞员乐团于YouTube以非公开形式上传了名为“A Complete Diversion”的短片，以宣传于伦敦O2布里克斯顿学院举行的演唱会片段，短片的名称来自于歌曲《Nico and the Niners》的歌词“And start a concert, a complete diversion”[85][86]。演唱会2018年9月12日举行，距离专辑的发行仅不足一个月[87]。

演唱会的首个北美巡回阶段于2018年10月18日在纳什维尔展开，距离专辑的发行日期不足两星期[88][89]。在完成北美的演出后，演唱会继续于澳洲与欧洲展开，并包括于南美地区的各个音乐节[88]。北美的第二巡回阶段于2019年6月30日结束，其中包括于墨西哥与加拿大的演出场次，以及两场于乐团故乡哥伦布的演出[90][91]。其后乐队于北美地区与欧洲进行多场音乐节演出，并于2019年11月9日结束北美的第三巡回阶段[92]。

《音乐战壕》于发行前后获得乐评家整体正面的评价，包括赞赏它的野心、词曲创作以及更凝聚的制作。其中不少乐评家认为专辑比起乐团前作《模糊脸庞》更优秀，指作品整体更加成熟。乐评网站Metacritic根据6笔评分对此专辑评分81分[93]，表示获得绝大多数乐评的正面评价。

商业成绩

《音乐战壕》于登上澳洲专辑榜于10月13日公布的榜单冠军，成为二十一名飞员乐团首张澳洲冠军专辑[107]。专辑亦同时空降纽西兰[108]、西班牙[109]、葡萄牙[110]、捷克[111]、墨西哥[112]，以及荷兰专辑榜的冠军[113]。
